All three volumes are engrossing and emotionally satisfying. I recommend them to everyone who loves speculative fiction--the post-apocalyptic world-building is terrific, the characters original yet familiar, the action taut and suspenseful, and the love relationships tender if sometimes wounding.I was a little afraid to read this final volume of the trilogy given the title, but it was a glorious ride. I finished it in less than 24 hours and wish I had the chance to start again from the beginning and experience the wonder of Mr. Carey's storytelling from scratch. So really, that's enough of a recommendation. What I like about a longer series is that you can really delve into the world of the book. And the world building was so interesting. I liked the history and the slow revelations, and how myth was twined around fact until you could barely tell them apart.I really enjoyed the chapters about Mythen Wood. Spinner was a great character to visit with. I didn't love the Koli chapters as much, and the entire bit on the Sword of Albion could have been better, imho. Monomo also revealed different sides.I liked the ending, though some of the tech started to feel like magic, in all that it could do.I liked spending time in this world, with the women (less so with the men). It was both thoughtful and exciting. I like MR Carey and will look out for more of his work.
